Health Services

As your Mayor, I have been dedicated to getting Provincial commitment to expand access to family physicians and community health services. The growing need for more services and to ensure all residents have access to a primary care provider is critically important. With phase one expansion of West Coast Family Medical Clinic completed, the planning for a major phase two expansion of primary healthcare services is well underway.”

Advocacy

Ongoing advocacy that I have on a regular basis with our MLA and other partners on many important Sooke challenges including:

  • The need to expand the access to primary health care in Sooke
  • The need for purpose-built affordable housing
  • Additional affordable daycare spaces
  • Public transit improvements
  • Highway 14 improvements


I also a big supporter of not-for-profit community groups involved in green initiatives, recreation, cultural activities

and the arts.

As Mayor, Maja welcomed two innovative cohousing communities in Sooke, Harbourside (2016) and West Wind Harbour (2021), which contribute to a revitalized downtown core. Maja also works respectfully with the T’Sou-ke Nation and is a strong supporter of our Sooke Truth for Reconciliation group.
